Summer is already here, which means ants will be here, too.
According to a research conducted at the Stanford University, ants consider homes to be their shelter. Getting rid of ants isn’t easy, and commercial pest control products are made from harsh chemicals.
As confirmed by the reports of the National Library of Medicine’s Toxicology Data Network, cypermethrin, one of the two ingredients in Raid Ant & Roach Spray, may cause congestion, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and asthma.
The basic ingredient in commercial insecticides is a nerve agent that affects the nervous system of insects. Well, it does the same thing to humans.
So, instead of using commercial ant-repellents, use peppermint essential oil.
Put a few drops on the areas where you see ants the most, and you will soon notice them run away. Ants can’t stand the scent of peppermint essential oil.
You can also try the following natural homemade ant repellent. It’s safe and effective at the same time.
- 30 drops peppermint essential oil
- 30 drops clove essential oil
- 4 oz water
Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle, shake the content well, and spray the affected areas. Repeat the method if needed.
